Road Trip to Oatman and the Last night of Christmas lights in Lake Havasu City

With another high wind forecast day, we decide to do a road trip to the Historic Town of Oatman. The town was born in 1915 when 2 miners apparently struck it rich.

Famous Route 66

Wild burros still roan the area.

We park our truck and head onto the streets of Oatman. It is such a cheesy tourist town that we have to laugh.

The wild burros are left over from the mining days when they were used as pack animals. Apparently there are more burros in Oatman than residents. True fact.

This sign is so true :)

We walk the cheesy town streets complete with a staged gun fight.

After we have seen enough, we take the scenic route home and stop for lunch at Sitgreaves Pass overlook.

Great view for lunch.

After supper we figure we should head to the London Bridge in Lake Havasu as it's the last night the  Christmas lights will be on. We were going to take our kayaks up the channel to see the lights by night, but it was very dark and the wind had been blowing all day so we opted to walk along the channel instead. The water has got to be at least 4 ft low from normal. Still a very beautiful evening.

The London Bridge was originally built in England in 1831 and spanned the River Thames.                 In 1968 it was purchased by the City of Lake Havasu and moved to Arizona in pieces and   reassembled as a new bridge, now an iconic draw to Lake Havasu. Looks nice all lit up.

Last night of Christmas lights display - Cheers!
