| North shore of Lake Erie |
We get out for a morning beach walk along the Lake Erie shore before the forecast rain sets in.
The Long Point Peninsula extends 32 km into Lake Erie making it the longest freshwater sandspit in the world.
 |
Will this sand spit be totally changed tomorrow? Likely
|
The peninsula and beach are constantly changing due to the continuous deposition and erosion of sediments through wind and wave erosion.
 |
| Sand dunes unique to the area |
Apparently these wetlands and associated sand dunes are the best remaining example of this type of ecosystem in the Great Lakes basin. So many animals rely on this area though sadly many are near extinction.

Nice old lumber and flour mill

The rain comes in and we just head out for an afternoon drive of doing nothing.
As we are driving back onto the Long Point peninsula, Chris drops me and I walk about 4 km along the beach back to our RV. I come upon a group of migrating Canada Geese.
 |
| Poor little ran over snake |
On the path back to the RV I find this perfectly squished little snake on the road. They don't stand a chance to a truck tire, so sad. Even in an area like this where people are trying hard to save animals and birds, humans cause them grief.

| Ontario route |
The rain continues and gets fairly heavy in the evening. We actually are totally in the for the night and even watch some TV - another season of The Voice has started.
We also have a look at our map of Ontario. The yellow highlighter shows our driving route. We've done a pretty good job at seeing this province. Almost 2.5 months by the time we fly home October 9th.
