Rondeau Provincial Park, Ontario

Wood pecker haven :)
Today is a chill explore the park day. We head out on our bikes on the park trails. We stop along the way and do a quick boardwalk loop. The wood peckers have been busy on this poor tree.

Trees grown together
These two trees of different species are totally grown together.

Fall colors coming more each day
It's a 7km ride out to the point along a gorgeous multi -use trail. The sun hitting the leaves that are turning colors is so nice.

Mother Nature art
Out at the point we discover the erosion from Lake Erie's crashing waves has destroyed the trail around the point. We try to walk it pushing our bikes but it's impassable.

We are forced to back track a few kms before another trail to the Visitor's Center presents itself.

The Visitor's Center is a nice display of local art and animals.

Heritage Cottage - over 100 years old
Another lakeside trail takes us back passing numerous little cottages. Some are 'Heritage Cottages' dating back to the 1800's, which served as housing for lighthouse keepers and their families, as well as fishing and farming families.

6 Turkey Vultures
Turkey Vultures apparently like to rest in dead trees to absorb the suns heat. Dead trees also offer safety as they can keep their eyes peeled for danger :)

Laundry and supper take our evening away, we need a chiller day now and then.

PLUS Pre Season Oilers vs Flames in a split squad, which means 1/2 the teams playing at the same time in both Edmonton and Calgary.

Edmonton wins in Calgary (3-0) and Calgary wins in Edmonton OT (3-2)
