Saint Jean Baptist Day - Rainy down day in Perce, Quebec

Colourful street mural

Today is the birthday of John the Baptist, which has evolved into a major civic holiday where Francophones unite to celebrate their language, culture and heritage.

Unfortunately it is quite a blustery day so we get stuff done in the trailer and then head into town for a walk about. Most things are closed for the civic holiday. Really not much happening that we can find.

We hear there are substantial populations of moose in Quebec and Atlantic Canada. They are especially abundant in the Gaspe area due to a high quality habitat and lack of natural predators such as wolves.

Thankfully so far all the moose we see are statues :)
