Day in Edmonton, AB

After a very nice breakfast in Gerry and Lori's back yard, we get ready to head to Rainbow Valley Campground where we have a reservation for tonight. Dan has joined us again this morning and he arrived on his E-bike. Sheila takes it for a spin around the block to get a feel for the whole concept. It is something that will definitely be in our future. She comes across this very unique library.

Nice selection of sticks....lol

Chris has read about a buskers festival in downtown Edmonton so we decide to park in our old neighborhood of Rossdale and walk up the hill to the city center.

Parked in Rossdale we can see the Parliament buildings in the distance.

We lived in Rossdale, a neighborhood in Edmonton for about 4 years and then in 1988, Sheila got a job in Calgary and thus our southern Alberta life began. It was an old neighborhood back then so we are not surprised to see our little old house has been knocked down and a new infill proudly stands. Very few of the old homes still exist here.

This was once our 800 sq ft home

We walk up the river valley and take the stairs up. There is a funicular for part of it but we do all the steps manually. Half way up is a great view of the MacDonald Hotel.

At the top we have a great view of the Edmonton river valley.

The buskers festival is a bust but there is a small music event going on down the street so we sit and enjoy a set of talented musicians who are actually part of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Very good.

Tonight the Telus World of Science is showing The IMAX Hubble 3D. We figure what the heck. Before heading in there is a small Indian restaurant that gets great reviews so we grab a bite. It is stellar food with really great prices.

Highly recommend The Green Beans Mountain Bistro

Yummy Samosas

We like this sign in the Green Bean restaurant :)

The Hubble 3D is fascinating footage of never-seen-before flights through the farthest reaches of the universe. Well worth seeing.

We head to Whyte Avenue and try to find a pub for a beer but nothing catches our eye so we head back to the RV.  That's a wrap. Busy day.
