Town of Buchanan lunch - On to Duck Lake Provincial Park

We left Greenwater Lake quite early this morning as it was raining and very smoky, plus poor cell. We stop at a Co-op card lock gas station about 20 minutes down the road with good cell and spend a couple hours working.

Prairie Sentinel needing some TLC

Once on our way heading east again, the Prairie Sentinels are very frequent and some in much better shape than others...just  like the roads and barns...lol

This barn has seen better days too!

We end up stopping in the small town of Buchanan as Sheila finds a review for JC's diner with a 4.9 star review,

JC's Diner - coffee's on

It's help yourself to the coffee and all the cups and plates are exactly like the one's on Sheila's family farm...same coral pattern :)  The owner, Joanne, lets us know all the food is homemade including the perogies. We order a dozen of mixed flavor perogies and a Denver sandwich with beef barley soup to share.

Joanne in her kitchen of home made goods.

Great home made lunch

You don't see prices like this anymore. It was $8 for 12 perogies and the soup and sandwich was 11 bucks. She even gave us two extra perogies :)  Chris said the coffee tasted like Mama Leona's and it was $1.57 a cup.
The 5 locals sitting at the same long table as us were very kind so we even bought their coffee and still only cost us $30 including a tip for Joanne.. LOL

Farther down the road, we come upon CaNoRa, the town named after the Canadian Northern Railway - first 2 letters of each name.

We stop to go into the railway museum but it's closed. Will it be open tomorrow?? Who knows.

We love the symbol to let you know there is an RCMP station in town. This town has a hospital too.

Tonight's destination is Duck Mountain Provincial Park.

We have made it to our next destination :)

We are in Spruce Campground on Pickerel Point right on Madge Lake.

Madge Lake - water front site :)

The bird life is plentiful and their songs ring out of the boreal forest we are in.

Into the Boreal Forest

After supper Chris tries fishing off the dock while I start a new book and finish my wine :)

Back at camp we end the night with another great campfire 🔥
