Fishing on Murphy Lake, SK

The plan is to head out fishing in the morning as that will likely be the best before the heat of the day sets in. We can literally walk down to Clint and Joyce's dock and onto their boat so we are on the water shortly after 10am.

The action begins immediately and we are catching fish left right and center. Joyce is amazing on the net...she actually perfectly times landing the fish in the net just as the fish spits the hook in an attempt to get away.

One of many of Sheila's catches of the day.

The fish are biting so fast sometimes that you wouldn't even get your hook totally let out in the water and you'd feel a bite...super fun and exciting as we'd yell "Got One" or "Fish On"

Chris is the first to land the treasured Walleye :)

Clint's big catch of the day - we let it go...lol

Around 1 pm everyone's stomachs are growling so we do one last trolling pass and are happy to head back with a cooler of fish. We have caught about 20 fish in total but threw back the smaller ones. In the end we have 4 Walleye and 7 or so Jackfish. A real frenzy..lol

After lunch and a little snooze we head over to the local boat launch to clean the fish. Chris and Clint make a great team. Chris learns a lot of Clint's techniques for getting all the bones out of the fish

Then supper preparation for a fish fry begins. They like a Canadian product called Fish Crisp, which is very popular in Saskatchewan.

No one eating finer than us tonight!

We finish the evening sitting around a fire and enjoy the sound of loons on the lake. This has totally been the quintessential northern Saskatchewan lake experience we were looking for. Thanks Clint and Joyce for fantastic memories.
