Lake Talon, Ontario

Eagles nest - hard to see

Today is a lovely chill day at Lake Talon. After lunch we head out on the pontoon boat to see the eagle's nest. A nest had been in the tree for years and years and then was totally destroyed in a huge wind storm a few years back. There were no eagles for a few years but now they are back. Jean wonders if it is an offspring that eventually made its way back to the tree and rebuilt the nest.

Young Eaglet

A young eaglet flies out of the nest as we get close and lands in a nearby tree. He doesn't leave that perch while we are in the area.

Jean points out the eaglet is sitting in a Red Pine tree. Interesting fact we learned from Trevor last night. You can tell the difference between a red and white pine tree by the number of needles per bundle on the tree. Red - 3 letters - 3 needles.  White - 5 letters - 5 needles. We need to check this out when back on land.

Fishing on Lake Talon

Jean takes over helming the boat using the small electric motor they have at the front of the boat, while the guys try some fishing.

Chris adjusting his fishing rod

Chris making some adjustments to his rod...are there fish in the lake?

Leaf on the edge of the water

Back at the dock we go for a swim and spend the afternoon just relaxing. This is the life. We need to slow down more often :)

Sheila in Jeff's hammock...lol

I enjoy the hammock, which was hung by our neighbor, Jeff, on one of his visits out here. It's pretty comfy.

We share another great meal together and then sit on the deck for the evening. Later we move into the screen house for a bit before we again say good-night and call it a day. Really glad we made the effort to come out this way.
