We are out of Sudbury early and on the way to North Bay, Ontario to get a few errands done.

Speeding Costs You
Just before North Bay I finally have my camera out when we pass these costs of speeding signs. With our rig we just trundle along so speeding isn't a concern of ours, but these sign makes you think.

Our home and office while on the road
Once in North Bay, we find some shade and get some work done before the heat of the day sets in. It's just after 9:00 am and it's already heating up :)

The cabin and Lake Talon behind our rig
Today we are headed on an adventure to meet and spend time with people we have never met before. Our neighbor back in Cochrane, Jeff, has a brother on Lake Talon out here near North Bay, Ontario. Jeff and his wife Liz have been hugely inspirational to us with respect to planning this cross country trip and they suggest we make a stop at the family lake lot for a true Northern Ontario Cottage Country experience. We are warmly greeted by John and Jean and immediately feel welcome. Our rig is bigger than they expected but we finally manage to wiggle it into their lot and get set up.

grandmajanescottage
We know we have arrived when we see the cabin sign Jeff and Liz spoke fondly of - "grandmajanescottage". Apparently when their mom's husband passed away years ago, she decided to purchase a cabin on a lake where family would gather over the years and memories would be made. She did well.
Soon we are having a G&T on the lake front. Life is good :)

Trevor, Jean, John, Laurie, Sheila and Chris
John and Jean have invited some close friends, Trevor and Laurie, to join us for an evening at the lake. It is such a small world as it turns out Trevor and Laurie knew the Kroll family from Cochrane years ago. We live right by the Matt Kroll baseball park in Riverview and we always thought he was some old guy involved in the early days of Cochrane. It turns out, Matt Kroll, was a talented young 18-year-old baseball player, playing in an Ontario league. There was a freak storm they all cleared the field for but when the storm was over and they resumed the game, he ran back out on the field only to be struck down by a lone bolt of lightening. Sad story we had no idea about, but we will think of Matt when we are back in his home town of Cochrane and passing by the park.

Calm night on the esturay
After supper we head out on their pontoon boat and up the arm of an estuary. It is so calm and beautiful. We come around a corner and watch a beaver pulling a small tree across the water.

Once back at the dock we head into the cabin for more swapping of stories before we all call it day...and what a great day it has been.
