We arrive in Ottawa, our nation's capital

Rest stop at Golden Lake for a quick lunch
Today we are driving from Algonquin Provincial Park to Canada's capital city of Ottawa. Chris has managed to finally get an appointment with a dentist later today so we have some miles to make in order to get set-up in our new campsite before his appointment.

Back on the Trans-Canada highway
Parry Sound, Muskoka and Algonquin took us off the Trans-Canada highway, but today we intersect it again on the way to Ottawa.

Corn field after corn field

Soon we are into corn fields galore...some fields we can actually see the cobs hanging down. Likely needed picking already.

Finally Ottawa is in our sights.

Downtown Ottawa on the horizon

Sweet Corn :)

A few kilometers from our campground is a corn stand that we can get our rig into. We grab farm fresh sweet corn, eggs and veggies.

Tables decorated with RCMP flag men :)

We get into The Friends of Long Island Center Campground in time to set up and have a quick walk around before Chris's dentist appointment. This is a campsite for RCMP members and their families but we are fortunate to get in as we have connections from a niece marrying an RCMP member :).

It is right along the Rideau Canal so a very nice location.

Chris heads off to the dentist to find out he has a cracked molar and there is no way to save the tooth. Ugh....tooth pull was the farthest thing from our minds, but at least he will be out of pain.

Long Island Locks
Just before the sunset we do a gently stroll down to the set of locks just down from us.

Long Island Locks are located on the Rideau Canal and are a flight of three locks and a stone arch dam. The locks are closed for the night so we don't see any boats go through but it's still nice to see everyone out enjoying a lovely evening.

That's another day gone by. Chris will take a few days to heal but happy to know what was up.
