Green Point Lighthouse - Port de Graves Harbour - Into the City of Mount Pearl (ugh culture shock), Newfoundland

Sunrise at Green Point Lighthouse

The 6:30 am sunrise on Green Point Lighthouse is wonderful.

Green Point Lighthouse

Since we arrived late last night we didn't get to see where we were at, so first thing we head out on an explore walk. It's another stunning location with views of 'Conception Bay' and the Atlantic Ocean. The wildflowers are managing to survive in this harsh exposed location.

Purple wildflowers - Newfoundland Asters?

Directional sign - Edmonton, Alberta

Classic breakfast - blueberries and peanut butter on toast

Back at the trailer we enjoy a breakfast of fresh blueberries and peanut butter on toast. Yesterday we took the time to actually pick a few containers of berries. Now we have a couple packs frozen and will enjoy the rest fresh :)

Port de Grave

We were told yesterday if we want to see a real fishing harbour with big fishing vessels, we need to stop by the 'Port de Graves Harbour'. Wow, they were not kidding, these are the big boys toys. Perhaps it's because the Grand Banks of Newfoundland are not far away so BIG boats are needed to head out for longer periods of time.

Big boys of the fishing fleets

Funky water reflection

We spend the late afternoon meandering along the coastal route towards St. John's.

We know we are about to be overwhelmed by the bigger centres and noticeable congestion of traffic etc. but WOW, did it hit us. We have spent the last 3 weeks in rural, rugged Newfoundland and tonight we are parked in the Princess Auto parking lot of the 'City of Mount Pearl'.  We have a reservation at 'Pippy Park' in St John's tomorrow. A parking lot will do for the night...
