Rayport Campground in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia

Rough roads inland Nova Scotia

Today we head south from being inland at Kejimkujik National Park to the 'South Shore' region of Nova Scotia. The inland roads are in rather rough shape to say the least.

Home for a few days

We chose Rayport campground for our stay as it is a central location in Lunenburg County to head out on day-trips. We go under The Trestle to get to Rayport.

Martin's River Bridge aka The Trestle

Fo'c'sle Tavern

By the time we get set up it's almost 3:30 pm and the FIFA game England vs Argentina is at 4 pm. The Town of Chester is about 15 minutes away so we head to the Fo'c'sle Tavern to catch the game. (pronounced FOHK-sel meaning the crews living quarters typically in the bow of the boat)

England loses 2-1...ugh

Inside the Fo'c'sle Pub

We meet and watch the game with a lovely local couple Rachel and Michael. They give us all sorts of tips for must see places they especially like. It turns out they are both volunteer DJ's for the local radio station COV 88.7 and Rachel says she'll do a shout out to us on her Friday shift at 2:30 pm. How fun.

Chester Yacht Club

After the game and chatting with Rachel and Michael, we just have time for a quick walk about Chester. Clearly a very nautical place. We hope to get back again over the next few days.
