Tidal Bore-Bay of Fundy plus Wolfville, Nova Scotia - Home of Acadia University

Travelling largely west from Pictou, we pass through the Town of Truro and the Tidal Bore viewing area.

A Tidal Bore is a single wave moving against the river's current, driven by the highest tides on earth. When the fast-moving tides of the Bay of Fundy push into the narrow shallow rivers, the incoming ocean water piles up and travels upstream creating a tumbling wave or surge. We arrive too late to see this today, but we hope to make it back this way and have the correct timing of the tides.

We are at the far NE corner of Bay of Fundy - 15 meter tides (48 ft)

Home for 3 nights

We are heading to The Land of Evangelina campground as a base for 3 nights to check out the Annapolis Valley.

Home of Acadia University

After setting up we head into the Town of Wolfville and discover it is the home of Acadia University, one of the oldest universities in Canada.

The Church Brewing Company
The first place we head is to The Church Brewing Company. It is a popular local brewpub and restaurant housed in a beautifully restored, historic 1914 stone church

Outdoor patio
In 2024 it won the 'Adaptive Reuse Reward' as it combines heritage conservation with a modern farm-to-table, craft beer experience. We have unfortunately seen many old, boarded up churches in our travels so the re-purposing on this one is absolutely amazing.

We each choose a flight of craft beer and share some snacks - seafood chowder and pretzels :)

It's a very nice evening so we walk the waterfront and find 'Salsa By the Sea' - free dance lessons. We join in a few salsa steps combined with the two-step:)

The Library Tavern

Next we stumble onto 'The Library Tavern. Who knew...a Church and a Library in one day :)

Acadia University

A couple more blocks and we come to Acadia University, which was founded in 1838 originally as Queen's College. It became Acadia College in 1841 and officially granted university status in 1891.

Nice evening sun

Sunset on the Bay of Fundy

Eventually we head back to our RV resort and do a short walk to the Bay of Fundy for a sunset. The sun sinks away without much drama but then we watch a fog bank roll over Cape Split off in the distance.
