Cape Mabou Hike - Kayak in Mabou Bay - Ceilidh in Judique and The Chestico Museum - Cape Breton, Nova Scotia

The trails of Cape Mabou Highlands

The day starts with a hike up to the look out on the Cape Mabou Highlands.  There are 17 trails on the cape making up a network of paths that follow the rugged coastline and highland plateaus. We have a lot planned today so we opt for the lookout.

Bright berries of some sort

West Mabou Beach Provincial Park

To cool off from our hike we head to the Mabou Harbour Lighthouse and working marina and launch the kayaks. Across the bay we can see a stunning beach on the West Mabou Beach Provincial Park side.

As we are launching the kayaks there are a couple sitting on the beach and they tell us about an hour ago a pilot whale went up the channel heading for open water. What a treat that would have been to see.

Once across we beach the kayaks and go for a very delightful swim.

Big Spruce craft beer with live music

No time to stop at the trailer for supper as we want to catch the live music at the Judique Celtic Interpretive Centre starting at 6 pm. The plan is to stay for 45 minutes and then head to the Chestico Museum for the Ceilidh at 7 pm.

Work book piano man :)

We love the shoes the young guy on the piano is wearing. He sure could play. We learn later he plays many instruments including the violin. Such talent.

Sun sets over Port Hood Island

As we are driving back to our trailer in Port Hood, the sun is a fireball in the sky pretty much about to set.

A late supper and chill-out for the evening. Much deserved :)
