The Highlander motor vessel
We are in line for the ferry at 8:15 am for the 12:15 sailing. They will start loading by 10:15 as it takes a long time to get all the vehicles loaded. There are a ton of commercial vessels.

Into the ship cavity
Closer to 11 am we are given the go ahead to load.

Loaded and ready to sail

Heli-pad on board
This vessel is so big there is even a heli-pad on board. Makes sense as it's a 6 to 7 hour crossing depending on weather and if someone got seriously ill they could get rescued.

Ferry terminal in Newfoundland :)
Once underway we spend the day reading, snoozing and watching another Blue Jays game. It's a super calm day so the passage goes by quickly and before we know it we are pulling into the Newfoundland terminal ahead of schedule.

We are a long way from home
It's already almost 7 pm by the time we actually get off the ferry. It's super exciting to be on 'The Rock'.
|
Cape Ray Lighthouse & museum
We are heading to the 'Cape Ray Lighthouse' for a boon-docking night right along the rocky coast of the Atlantic ocean. It's a popular spot for travellers from the ferry to spend a night.

Black fox
|
There is a 'Black Fox' just off one of the museum information platforms. Apparently they are not common so we feel pretty privileged that this little one came out to welcome us :)

Sun setting on the Atlantic ocean
We watch the sun set with a couple locals who fill us in on 'bake apples' (golden, orange berries) and moose. There were three standing right here a few days ago.
And that's a wrap on today.
