Heading south off the Great Northern Peninsula and across island to Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland

Route 430 south

It is raining quite a lot as we head south on the Great Northern Peninsula, retracing our route past Arches Provincial Park and through Gros Morne National park.

Gros Morne Mountian in the distant rain

MOOSE in the ditch
We see 2 moose along the way, which is unusual at this time of day but we figure the rain has them out and about. The first one is on the far side of the ditch and it is literally looking both ways for traffic..a smart one. Thankfully it turns and runs back into the woods rather than in front of us.

The second one about 20 minutes farther down the road literally jumps out of the bush and runs beside us for about 4 gallops and then veers into the woods. Both are heart-stopping moments that we don't need!

300,000 kms - what a milestone
The big event on our long driving day is our truck odometer turns to 300,000 kms. We bought the truck when it had 150,000 kms on it and it has been used exclusively for pulling our trailer and travel. This old girl we call, Glennifer, has taken a lot of miles.

Gander and St. John's on the radar

A 7 hour driving day lands us in Grand Falls-Windsor where laundry comes to the top of the list as we have a ton of it ;)
