Dildo Run Provincial Park + Twillingate, Newfoundland

Treats From The Sea

On our way to Dildo Run Provincial Park, we make a quick stop at 'Treats From The Sea' and buy some Newfoundland squid tubes.

Newfoundland Provincial Park

Dildo Run actually means a narrow, winding, and island-dotted body of water. We'll use the park as a base for the next two nights to visit the coastal 'Town of Twillingate, known as the 'Iceberg Capital of the World'. Too late to see any this year, but you can't make everything work :)

Crossing the Twillingate Tickle
We chill for a bit and then head into Twillingate for a quick look. On the way, we have to cross what is called a 'tickle' in Newfoundland. A tickle is a narrow salt-water strait or passage, typically found between two islands. Engineers generally pick these sorts of locations to build causeways or bridges. Today we cross the tickle between North Twillingate Island and South Twillingate Island.

It is a lovely quintessential Newfoundland town with all the colours one would expect here.

Blueberry patch

It is blueberry season and while on a short walk to a view point we find a huge patch. We even pick a bunch to take home...after eating a ton first :)
