Seal Island Bridge
On our way we cross the 'Seal Island Bridge', an arch bridge that crosses the Bras d'Or channel. At 716 metres it is the third-longest bridge span in the province.

Boardwalk waterfront
Once in Sydney we head to the main downtown and walk the boardwalk waterfront to find the World's Largest Fiddle.

World's largest fiddle
The fiddle celebrates the important role fiddlers and their music have played in the cultural heritage of Cape Breton Island. Fiddle music was first brought to Cape Breton by Scottish immigrants :)
The area is absolutely stunning with crystal clear water and quaint buildings but we are shocked at how dead it is. There are only a handful of other people mulling about on this beautiful Saturday afternoon.
We find out that unless a cruise ship is in port, many businesses close their doors and not much goes on.

We find the 'Don Cherry' pub and have a great time with a few locals as we watch the Blue Jays game. Even the pub is largely empty :)
